About Milne Library

What materials are in the library collection?

Books, periodicals, audio and video recordings, DVDs, maps, teacher education kits and CD-ROMs are available in a wide variety of subject areas. There are more than 100 computers to provide access to online resources and a variety of software applications. Digital cameras, GPS units, CD players, headphones, and laptops are also available for loan. Use GLOCAT to find materials in our collection.

What other services are in the library building?

Milne Library boasts the Books & Bytes Café, the Teaching & Learning Center, and a satellite office of the Writing & Learning Center. Four SMART classrooms located on the main and lower levels of the building facilitate the use of technology in teaching. Classrooms are available for faculty and staff use on a semester-long basis or for one-time meetings. Check the campus Events calendar for room availability.

Library hours depend upon the semester and time of year.

Where are restrooms located in the building?

Restrooms are located on all three floors of the building. On the lower level, you will find the restrooms on your right side as you approach Room 105, near the journals. On the main level, restrooms are located to your right as you enter the Books ‘n’ Bytes Café, off the main entrance to the library. On the upper level, restrooms are located diagonally to your left as you walk up the main staircase, right across from the book stacks.

Where are the photocopiers?

Copiers are located on the main level, next to the Information Delivery Services office. More copiers are located on the lower level, across from the microfilm collection.

How do I renew a book?

You may renew materials online through GLOCAT:

  • At the main screen of GLOCAT, click on Personal Login in the top left corner
  • Next, enter your Geneseo userID and password (same as you use to login to the network or Webmail)
  • Next, click on Account Information in the top left corner
  • Once you are in your account menu, click on the link for Loans
  • You may renew all your loans at one time by choosing Renew All from the menu options
  • If you only want to renew one at a time, click on the item number next to the title

How do I locate a journal or a magazine in the library?

Current issues of popular magazines, journals, and newspapers are located in Books ‘n’ Bytes Café. Older issues and bound volumes of journals are located downstairs on the lower level.
