Since the Library School at Geneseo closed its doors in 1983, alumni have been left without a department to call home. While we can’t throw open those doors again, we can open our arms to all our Library School alumni.
We started by inviting Library School alumni back to campus for a long-overdue Reunion that was held on Saturday, September 30, 2006 in conjunction with the College’s Homecoming Week. More than 100 alumni and their guests joined SUNY Geneseo President Christopher Dahl, Provost Katherine Conway-Turner, and many Milne Library staff members for the day-long celebration. Alumni from as far away as Wisconsin, Kentucky, Rhode Island and Virginia – as well as several other states including, of course, New York – traveled to Geneseo to meet old friends, make new ones and reconnect with their alma mater.
Geneseo alumni who earned either their Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree – or both! – in Library Science, or a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Education with a specialization in librarianship, were welcome to join the party. Even those who didn’t quite get the diploma were – and are -- included in the fold!
The website has been updated to include LOTS of pictures taken throughout the day. The list of “Who’s Coming” reflects who actually attended (alas, some well-intentioned alumni were unable to make it), and the five Minerva Award winners are showcased. Finally, check out some of the feedback we’ve received from happy Library School alumni. Enjoy!
