Guest Borrower’s Policies:

Effective January 27, 1998

ID Cards:

Guest Borrower identification cards are issued at the Circulation Desk to community borrowers who are at least 18 years old and have a valid New York State driver's license and social security number. Guest cards expire annually on June 30 (please do not throw away your expired card as the barcode number on your card will always be your identification number). Guest borrower cards are NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Loan Periods and Limitations:

The standard loan period for books from the regular circulating collection is four weeks (28 days). There is a TEN ITEM maximum total check-out of library materials on a guest borrower's account.

Recalls:

All borrowed library materials must be returned promptly when recalled for course reserve OR another user and should be returned directly to a staff member at the Circulation Desk. Materials recalled for reserve must be returned within three days of recall to avoid paying late fees.

Renewals:

Guest borrowers may renew books one time. Renew books on or before the due date by bringing them to the Circulation Desk, by phoning 245-5594, or submitting an online renewal form. Some materials are non-renewable.

Overdue Notices:

Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy to users by Milne Library. Failure to receive notices does not exempt the user from paying late fees. When materials are borrowed, a date due is provided. Please check the date due and return or renew materials by the stamped due date. If a guest borrower fails to respond to notices after 45 days overdue, their account is turned over to a collection agency and collection costs are passed on to the patron.

Overdue Fines/Lost Books:

Once overdue fees are accrued on a user's account, their library account is blocked until fees are paid in full. All library users are billed for damaged or lost materials. The charge for lost items is $70.00. If the item is overdue at the time material is declared damaged, late fees will also be charged.

Printing:

Guest borrowers and community residents will be charged 10 cents per page for printing, payable at the Circulation Desk when the printout is picked up. Patrons preferring not to print may download material to a disk. Disks are sold at the Circulation Desk for $1.
