Loans

Regular Collection

The standard loan period for books from Milne Library's circulating collections, for students and guest borrowers, is 28 days. Faculty and staff members may borrow books from the circulating collection for one year. These books are subject to recall after four weeks if requested by another borrower. Guest borrowers are allowed one renewal per book. Books are renewable by phone, by bringing in the book, or by using the "renew function" in your personal login in GLOCAT . Call ext. 4208 from campus phones or 245-5594 from off-campus to renew books.

Curriculum

The Curriculum Center loan policies are designed to make high-demand curriculum materials available to all students majoring in education. Curriculum materials do not circulate to guest borrowers.

CX items:

CT items:

  • Students and faculty only.
  • 7 days
  • 2 item limit
  • Most CT items labeled "Does not Circulate" are allowed to circulate for seven days. Check GLOCAT, and if the title is listed as "For use in library only," it does not circulate. Curriculum materials are NOT renewable.

Juvenile and Young Adult

The loan period for Juvenile and Young Adult books for ALL library users is 14 days with one renewal. These books may be renewed once for an additional 14 days if not requested by another borrower.

Reserve Materials


Electronic Reserves:

Electronic Reserves are now managed through myCourses.

Circulating Reserves:

The Circulating Reserve collection consists of books, CDs, records, and videos which are placed on reserve by a course. You will need your SUNY Geneseo ID to check out reserve materials except for those items in ERes. A loan period for each item not in ERes has been determined by the course instructor and may be for 2 or 4 hours, 1-, 3-, or 7-day loan. All circulating reserve materials must be returned to the Reserve Desk and are not renewable.

Music CDs

The loan period for compact discs is 14 days, with a limit of 5. Music CDs are located on the second floor of Milne Library in front of the stairs. These CDs may be renewed once for an additional 14 days if not requested by another borrower.

Cassette Tapes

The loan period is 14 days with a limit of 5. Cassettes are located among the regular collection. Cassettes can be renewed once.

Phonodiscs

The loan period for a phonodisc is 14 days with a limit of 5. Phonodiscs are located on the second floor of Milne Library in front of the stairs. These can be renewed once.

Journals and Periodicals

The loan period for journals and periodicals is 7 days for faculty and staff ONLY. There are no renewals for journals and periodicals. Journals and periodicals are subject to recall if requested by another borrower.

Videos/DVD's

The loan period for videos is 7 days, with a limit of 5. Videos are shelved by call number in the regular circulating collection. Videos are not renewable.

Humanities

The loan period for humanities is 3 days with a limit of 2. They are shelved among the regular collection. Humanities are not renewable.
