Circulation Department Mission
The Circulation Department supports the mission of Milne Library by providing students, faculty, staff and community residents with easy and convenient access to library services and materials. The Circulation staff is committed to ensuring that all library users are able to quickly find the materials they need in the proper location and that they receive knowledgeable and friendly assistance in all access services (for Circulation, Reserve, and Information Desk) functions.

Circulation service objectives
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times
- Help users with how to use the library, provide directional information, and give referral as needed
- Check out and check in circulating materials promptly and accurately
- Maintain accurate patron and item records
- Protect the privacy of all patron information
- Operate an effective course reserve service (print and MyCourses) which provides excellent service for students and faculty
- Market circulation and reserve services to student and faculty in order to make them aware of the features and benefits of these services
- Market access services to guest borrowers and Alumni
Library and Employee Service
- Maintain and report accurate statistics of patron and material usage
- Collaborate with other units in the library and outside the library to improve library resources and services to users
- Develop a skilled, competent and friendly staff, including student employees
- Provide student employees with an excellent opportunity for employment experience
- Encourage training opportunities in order to keep skills current
- Provide effective building management including opening and closing, and opening setup.
