Student Research or Technology Consultations

NOTE: For both research and technology consultations, please request your session 2 or 3 days before you would like to meet with us. If your project is due before this, go directly to Milne Library's reference desk for immediate help.

Student Research Consultations by appointment

Milne's reference librarians are always glad to provide research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and the general public who stop by or phone the reference desk. However, when things are especially busy, we may need to limit the amount of time we spend helping each person.

If you need research help for any kind of project (term papers, oral presentations, literature reviews, etc.), consider signing up for an in-depth, one-on-one consultation that will last about 30 minutes and provide you with the following:

  • Introduction to library research tools (such as the library catalog, resources, reference sources, or Internet resources) appropriate to your topic
  • Assistance in evaluating the relevance and usefulness of materials
  • Assistance in locating materials in the library
  • Assistance in using library services such as Information Delivery Services
  • Working with equipment such as microform printers

Appointments are arranged for most weekday hours when reference librarians are on duty. Fill out and submit the research consultation request form.

Student Technology Consultations by appointment

If you need technology help for any kind of technology project (creating a web page, designing a brochure, creating a multimedia presentation, etc.), consider signing up for an in-depth, one-on-one consultation that will last about 30 minutes and provide you with the following:

  • Introduction to the computer application necessary for your project
  • Assistance with photo editing using Adobe Photoshop
  • Assistance with graphic design (Brochures/Flyers) using Microsoft Word
  • Assistance with spreadsheets and charting using Microsoft Excel
  • Assistance with web authoring software using Macromedia Dreamweaver
  • Assistance with creating a multimedia presentation using Microsoft Powerpoint

Appointments are arranged for most weekday hours when the technology instructor is in Milne Library. Fill out and submit the technology consultation request form.
