GoToMeeting - Online Meeting Service

GoToMeeting is an online meeting service that enables users to easily, securely and cost-effectively present information and collaborate on projects with up to 15 sites (*Each site can have more than one attendee).   Watch Demo (~ 3 mins.).

The service is available to any Geneseo faculty or staff member. There is no cost to use the service; however, the user will be charged for the long distance call. The long distance call charge is $0.05/minute or $3/hour. User needs to bring either a department or personal phone PIN to the meeting.

Users can request the service through the Online Room Request Form. Check the "GoToMeeting" option under "Special Equipment Needed" on the form. Currently, GoToMeeting is available only in the rooms 208 (up to 6 people) and 221 (up to 20 people).

Is it difficult to use GoToMeeting?

GoToMeeting is very intuitive and easy to use. When you arrive at your meeting, a CTA (Classroom Technology Assistant) will set up and start GoToMeeting for you. A CTA will also give you a brief tutorial on how to use GoToMeeting. There will also be a short guide available in the room as well. If you have any questions or need further assistance during the meeting, a CTA is available in the Circulation area to assist you.

Do other attendees need to have a GoToMeeting account to join the meeting?

No, the other attendees can simply join the meeting by clicking on the link in the email that you send them.

Will there be any cost for other attendees?

Yes, the other attendees are responsible for the long distance phone call.

Where can I get more instructions on how to use the GoToMeeting software?

There are many tutorials available on the GoToMeeting Website.

What are the system requirements?

  • Mac (10.4 or newer) or Windows (2000, XP, 2003 Server or Vista)
  • Internet connection (Cable modem, DSL, or better)
  • Phone

Can I bring my own laptop to the meeting to show what's on the laptop?

Yes.

Can I record a meeting session?

Yes, if you need to record a meeting session, please indicate it in the comments section on the Online Room Request Form.

Can I schedule an international meeting?

Yes. If your meeting is with only one other country (i.e. you and someone in Canada), there is no limit on the country.
   If your meeting is with more than one country, only the following countries are supported through the GoToMeeting conference call service: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
