WELCOME TO MILNE LIBRARY!

   In today's session, students will . . .

learn how to most effectively search for and evaluate sites found on the free web.

By the end of the session, students should be able to . . .

  • use specific criteria to evaluate web sites for academic purposes
  • understand the benefits of using advanced search screens in web search engines
  • brainstorm scholarly terms and add them to the specific topic of research, yielding a greater bank of scholarly websites to choose from
  • identify key terms, people, and institutions that may advance their research into more focused and scholarly websites
  • determine the differences between website formats (full-text articles, article abstracts, textual websites) and cite them accordingly
