GOAL: To introduce students to various sources and methods used to acquire demographic information, statistics, and current news stories related to a specific country.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Students will . . .
- Find background information on the country they are researching
- Use the Internet and library search tools to find sites on government, international humanitarian organizations, and newspapers originating from their topic country
- Verify and locate the original source of a set of statistics found in a secondary document
COUNTRY BACKGROUND:
Country Studies
(Library of Congress)A full book's worth of information on specific countries. Find your country's study online or in the library (perform a title search in GLOCAT - name of country and country study). Some publications may be 10 years or older and will need to be supplemented with more current information.
