Native Land Digital is an interactive map that helps users identify Indigenous territories, languages, and treaties associated with any location. By entering an address or browsing the map, students, faculty, and staff can see the layered histories of the land they inhabit. The platform is managed by an Indigenous-led board and emphasizes fluid, overlapping boundaries that reflect complex histories rather than fixed colonial lines.
The map includes three key data layers—territories, languages, and treaties—and provides links to additional resources when available. It also offers teaching materials, including a Teacher’s Guide and practical guidance on crafting meaningful land acknowledgments.
While North American coverage is strongest and information depth varies, the site is accessible, easy to navigate, and transparent about its limitations. It’s best used as an entry point for further learning, research, and engagement with Indigenous communities.
Native Land Digital is recommended for academic libraries, faculty, students, and DEI initiatives.

November is National Native American Heritage Month.
"National Native American Heritage Month is celebrated every November to honor the traditions, languages, and contributions of Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities. It was officially designated in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush to recognize the rich history and culture of Indigenous peoples in the United States." - American Library Association
