Microcredential in Library Professions

This microcredential is designed for students interested in applying to graduate school for Library and Information Science after completing a Geneseo degree. It focuses on textual analysis, research strategies (as taught by a faculty librarian) and emphasizes practical experience in a collegiate and/or community library.  The requirements for the microcredential include:

Academic Coursework

  • ENGL 203 - Reader and Text: (subtitle) Credit(s): 4
  • INTD 275 - Information Research Strategies Credit(s): 1

An Integrative or Applied Learning Experience
Choose one of the following (all require pre-approval by a Milne faculty librarian):

Professional Orientation

  • Completion of an interview with a professional librarian (arranged in consultation with Milne faculty librarians).

Self-Reflective Essay

  • Completed at the conclusion of the applied learning experience.
