Life Cycle of Scholarly Research
Undergraduate research is an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student with faculty collaboration or supervision that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline. Here at Geneseo, students have a variety of research options, including:
- Individual Research
- Honors in Mathematics
- BioMathematics
- Summer Research and Study Abroad
Research opportunities are valuable experiences for undergraduate students as it provides students to improve their problem solving and creativity abilities, allows students to discover fresh, attractive solutions, provides a taste of what graduate school is like, and helps a students chances at getting accepted into PhD programs.

Geneseo Foundation Undergraduate Summer Research FellowshipsRecipients may choose to be sponsored for part-time or full-time summer fellowships. Undergraduates must work with a faculty sponsor.

Kyrwood Summer Research FellowshipProvides an undergraduate student to work with a faculty member in the social sciences on a faculty member's existing research project.

McNair Scholars ProgramThe McNair Scholars Program is a government supported program that encourages undergraduate students pursuit to doctoral study by providing extensive mentoring and support, research-intensive experiences, grant-funded stipends, opportunities to visit graduate schools and more.

Sorrell Chesin '58 Research AwardProvides financial support to establish undergraduate student research awards that recognize students who have successfully undertaken a research experience in the natural sciences and related disciplines under the direction or mentorship of a faculty member in the field of study.

Student Research AssistantshipsAvailable twice a year to provide faculty members with paid research assistance for their scholarly projects.

Undergraduate TRAC Grants ProgramThe Travel, Research, and Creativity (TRAC) grants program is designed to aid undergraduates in the purchasing of supplies, equipment, and other expenses they might incur in their research or creativity project.
