Group Study Room Reservation Policies and Expectations

Policies

  • Reservations are required.
  • Study room reservations are limited to Geneseo students, faculty, and staff members.
  • All reservations must be verified via confirmation email.
  • Groups must arrive within the first 15 minutes of their reservation or it will be canceled.
  • Groups must adhere to the maximum occupancy limits of their study room.
  • When possible, please request a room that best fits the size of your group.
  • Please have a copy of your reservation confirmation email available at all times you are occupying the study room.
  • Study room reservations can be made up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • The minimum reservation time is 30 minutes.
  • The maximum reservation time is 2 hours.
  • No more than 2 reservations can be made in a week (per individual)
  • No more than 2 hours (120 minutes) total can be reserved in a day (per individual).
  • Study rooms will close 30 minutes prior to the library’s closing.
  • If a reservation is no longer needed, please cancel via your confirmation email.
  • If the library needs to cancel a reservation for any reason, you will be notified in advance.

Expectations

  • Groups will remove all trash from their room at the end of the reservation.
  • Groups will not move furniture into or out of their room.
  • Groups will keep noise to a reasonable level.
  • Groups will limit food to snacks and small packaged items. Large meals or food deliveries are not allowed.
  • Groups will start packing 5 minutes before the end of their reservation out of courtesy for the next group.
  • Groups with evening reservations will vacate their study room no less than 30 minutes before the library closes.
  • The person booking the reservation will be held responsible for the individuals of their group.
  • Patrons that repeatedly violate these expectations will lose room booking privileges.
     

Reserve A Group Study Room

The 15 reservable Group Study rooms are located on the 3rd Floor (Upper) of Milne.

  • Reservations are required. 
  • Group Study Room reservations are limited to geneseo.edu account holders only.
  • Reservations are limited to 2 hours (120 minutes) per room, per day.
  • Please thoroughly review our Group Study Room Policies for additional expectations and policies.

Reservation Instructions

Each room is reservable via scanning a QR code on the wall next to each room, scanning a QR code on digital signs throughout the building, or selecting the button at the end of these instructions.


Step 1

When reserving a room, you will see the grid with the gray and green squares indicating what times are already reserved and what times are available. When creating your reservation, click only one green square. The square will turn orange and will act as the start time of your reservation.

Step 2

After clicking the square, a drop-down menu will appear at the bottom of the page. You will use this menu to set the end-time of your reservation.

Step 3

After selecting the end-time of your reservation, you can complete the rest of the reservation form. This will allow you to just use a single reservation to reserve up to 2 hours total, leaving you with another reservation to be used later in the week.

Step 4

After completing your reservation, you will receive an email with a confirmation link. Please check your email and click the link to confirm your reservation within one hour of completing your reservation or your reservation will be automatically cancelled. Clicking the clink in the email guarantees your room reservation.
