SBDC Resources at the University Library: What you can access

As a member of the general public, you may not know that you have the right to on-site access to Milne library databases and resources. This guide will provide useful links for research, contact information for the Business Librarian, and a summary of res

Library Policies for the General Public

As a community member, you have access to the following:

  • Borrow books, media, and equipment from Milne Library's collection (Guest Borrower card required)
    • Books have a loan period of 28 days
    • DVDs have a loan period of 7 days
  • On-campus access to our online research databases (must be logged into a public desktop computer)
  • Connect your laptop or other device to the Geneseo Guest wireless network
    • You will need to fill out a form to get a guest password
  • Access to a desktop computer in any of our labs (Guest Borrower card required)
  • Printing, copying, & scanning (payment by cash only):
    • Scanning: free
    • B&W (single-sided): 10¢ per page
    • B&W (double-sided): 15¢ per page
    • Color (single-sided): 30¢ per page
    • Color (double-sided): 45¢ per page

To sign up for a free Guest Borrower card, please stop by the Milne Library Service Desk with a valid Driver's License.

Please note that we are unable to provide the following services to commuity members at this time:

  • Interlibrary loan (please contact your local public library)
  • Off-campus access to our online research databases (due to license restrictions)

Business Librarian Consultations

As a SBDC patron, you can either contact the business librarian directly using the contact information below, or go through your local SBDC representative. Consultations with the Business Librarian focus on the following options:

  • Training in using library databases and resources to find useful information
  • Assistance in tracking down data outside of the library's resources, as time permits
    • Examples include regional demand for a particular service, demographics and other census related data
  • Limited training in using business presentation tools, and assistance in finding outside sources with further advice and information
